The J.M. Martinac Shipbuilding Corporation is a completely self-contained manufacturing facility.  The 'yard' is situated on a six-acre site with two fully enclosed construction ways accommodating vessels up to 260 feet long and 48 feet wide.  Each building is served by two 10-ton overhead cranes to facilitate material handling.  The outfitting dock is equipped with a 22-ton tower crane and can accommodate vessels up to 400 feet long and 20 feet deep.  Three mobile cranes provide additional support for construction and repair work.

Martinac employs all of the major crafts involved in ship construction including welders, fitters, machinists, electricians, painters, riggers, pipe fitters and carpenters.  Martinac also employs naval architects and marine engineers capable of designing vessels from the keel up or to assist in production development of existing designs.  When requested, Martinac vessels can be  built to the  requirements of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), United States Coast Guard (USCG), and the Convention for the Safety of Lives at Sea (SOLAS).

To provide continuity and quality control, administrative, production, and engineering departments are all located 'on-site' at the Tacoma, Washington facility.
